Dynaudio Evoke 20 are high-end passive HiFi bookshelf speakers

Evoke 20 are medium sized, stand mounted loudspeakers…designed for almost any sized room! Their powerful 18cm mid/bass driver ensures they are able to flex their muscles in any situation, while the new 28mm soft dome tweeter takes care of the smallest details. Of course then, Danish design looks great wherever you put it. Somehow, the Evoke 20 is a perfect bookshelf speaker set almost anywhere.

These HiFi speakers were designed by people who love music. They made it with hundreds of hours of intensive measuring and listening – real listening, real music, in real rooms. So when you play your treasured music collection, rest assured that you're hearing exactly what the Dynaudio engineers have heard – for a long time – too.

Advanced driver technology

The 18cm Esotec + woofer is made from 0.4mm thick MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer), a proprietary material that Dynaudio has been using in speaker cones for decades. It offers the perfect balance of lightness, stiffness and damping which, combined with the new strontium carbonate ceramic magnet system with Ferrite+, reproduces mid and low frequencies in perfect balance.

The entire diaphragm is made from a single piece of MSP. Rather than gluing on a dust cap or simply leaving a "hole", this construction makes the cone much stiffer and results in very low physical distortion. It also provides a much better physical connection to the voice coil meaning that much more energy from the voice coil is transferred to the cone directly at the bracing around the central dome. Do we translate? Speed, power, control clearly higher than before and at the top of the category.

Evoke 20 features a 52mm aluminum spool. Dynaudio chose this type of winding, rather than copper, for this loudspeaker because it provides the right balance between weight and size of the winding, to give the low frequencies power and sufficient mechanical and electrical damping. At the same time, the midrange frequencies, where a great deal of musical detail is found, also sound clear and convincing.

The Evoke 20's Nomex “spider” keeps the woofer centered while the new Contour-derived flange allows for more excursion, for greater dynamic impact…

The new Cerotar tweeter

The tweeter is brand new. It's called Cerotar and it's based on key technologies from our award-winning Esotar Forty anniversary tweeter and the powerful new Esotar3, which you'll find in the top Confidence series.

Like all Dynaudio tweeters, it is a 28mm unit and uses a precision coated soft dome. This coating is applied in exactly the right places and thicknesses to optimize high frequency performance – it's a process derived from the development of the most unique speakers in the range.

But that's where the similarity to the rest of the Dynaudio series ends! Hidden behind the dome is a part called the Hexis: a special internal dome that shapes the airflow to smooth out the frequency response and eliminate unwanted resonances that could affect high-frequency performance.

The new Dynaudio Esotec+ woofer

Like the Esotec+ tweeter, the woofer is also driven by a new strontium carbonate ceramic magnet with Ferrite+ for increased sensitivity, improved resolution of detail, and a natural, dynamic response.

It's all a fancy way of saying it "plays melodiously, and you can listen to it for hours without even a hint of fatigue." Time to dig those prog-rock albums out of the attic…

A design for life

Dynaudio's design group did fieldwork to study furniture stores, interior stores and actual homes to refine the look of Evoke 20. It was important to them that they could imagine the speakers in a variety of living spaces – because, after all, that's how most people listen. You're on a sofa, with a coffee and a dog… these speakers are meant to be “for life”.

A style icon in 4 precious finishes

Dynaudio Evoke 20 is available in four beautiful finishes. High Gloss Black Lacquer and High Gloss White Lacquer both use a new lacquer technique that gives a gloriously deep, glass-like appearance. At the other end of the tactile spectrum are the lovely open natural veneers in Walnut and Light Wood.

The cabinets themselves are tapered and rounded, with a nod to the Contour and Confidence ranges. The mounting screws are hidden behind elegant cover rings. And because good design doesn't age, you know the Evoke 20s will sound just as stylish when you hear them again 30 years from now.
