The TEAC VRDS-701T is a high-end pure CD transport, which is a device that reads digital data from a disc and sends it to an external digital-to-analog converter (DAC) via a digital connection.

This allows you to obtain superior sound quality compared to a traditional CD player, as the CD transport is optimized to reduce vibrations and interference that can degrade the digital signal, while the stand alone DAC exclusively performs this function, thus the two machines work separately in the best possible way.

The VRDS-701T was created as a commemorative model to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Japanese manufacturer and is produced in a limited series. For reading it uses the VRDS (Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System) mechanism, an original TEAC technology which consists of blocking the CD on an aluminum platter with the same diameter as the disc, in order to increase the inertial mass and stabilize rotation.

Furthermore, the entire CD mechanism is mounted on a sub-chassis in a semi-floating manner, to isolate vibrations between the mechanism and the chassis and prevent unwanted resonances.

The VRDS-701T also implements an MQA core decoder, which can read MQA CDs and output them at 88.2 kHz, furthermore, if you use a DAC that has an MQA rendering function, you can achieve full MQA decoding playback, which restores the original signal.

Another interesting feature of the VRDS-701T is the input for an external 10 MHz clock, which allows you to synchronize the CD transport with a clock generator, to further improve the audio quality, but also for synchronization of the entire system .

Finally, the use of an enhanced power supply, based on two high-capacity toroidal transformers, one for the digital circuit and one for the analog circuit, ensures stability and optimal separation between the two circuits.
