The TEAC CD VRDS-701 is a CD player that in a world of ever-changing music streaming, still wants to have its say, to the delight of all those who continue to use the silver disk as their main software. This player stands out both for its elegant and robust design and for the high-level sound performance it is capable of, created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Japanese manufacturer.
This is a model that uses the VRDS (Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System) mechanism, an exclusive TEAC technology that reduces vibrations and fluctuations during disk rotation, thus increasing reading precision and sound quality.
The TEAC ?? is used as a discrete digital-to-analog converter. (delta-sigma), which incorporates original TEAC algorithms based on an FPGA circuit, which make it capable of handling PCM signals up to 32 bit/384 kHz, DSD up to 22.5 MHz and MQA, even on CD; furthermore, thanks to RDOT-NEO technology (Refined Digital Output Technology NEO), the CD player can oversample the signal up to 8 times, improving resolution and linearity. The TEAC CD VRDS-701 is not just a CD player, but also a DAC with various digital connections, in fact on the back we find in addition to the classic balanced and unbalanced analog outputs, an asynchronous USB input, two S/PDIF inputs (optical and coaxial) and a BNC terminal that allows you to connect an external 10 MHz master clock.
This player also uses a high-level analog stage, with a volume control based on the QVCS (Quad Volume Control System), which allows you to directly drive a power amplifier or active speakers.
As for the construction level, however, this is truly impeccable, characterized by a metal frame that sees at its base some feet that disperse vibrations, and with a very elegant front on which are located all the main controls and a large and easily readable display, as well as a 6.3 mm headphone output with a dedicated amplifier.
