Flexible audio formats.

The ZEN Air DAC supports multiple audio formats – PCM 32bit/384kHz, fully native DSD256 and MQA.

PCM – Pulse Code Modulation is the format used in CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and other digital applications. It is a significant improvement over MP3.

DSD – Direct Stream Digital is a very high quality audio format, superior to CDs. The higher the number (sampling rate), the better the quality: DSD64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024. “Fully native” means it has not been changed from the original recording.

MQA – Master Quality Authenticated is an award-winning audio technology that allows music lovers to stream the original master recording to home, car, or mobile devices. With the ZEN Air DAC, you can listen to MQA directly by connecting to Tidal Masters and enabling MQA streaming.

The ZEN Air DAC offers two unique features designed by iFi Audio:

PowerMatch – Adjusts the gain so that the DAC operates at the right level for your headphones. Gain is a measure of audio volume and is expressed in decibels (dB).

XBass+ – Allows you to customize the bass to your headphones and your personal preferences.

Both of these features are designed to enhance and make your listening experience unique.

Many DACs still use a digital volume control, but iFi Audio has chosen an analog solution for the ZEN Air DAC.

What does this mean? When you turn down the volume on other digital DACs, you lose some of the sound information. With analog volume control, you can turn down the volume while keeping the sound quality intact.
