The Tascam DR-40X is a versatile four-track audio recorder for musicians and podcasts that require high sound quality.
The two adjustable condenser microphones tolerate high sound pressure levels, which means that the DR40X can also be used for loud concerts or rehearsal room recordings.
With integrated stereo microphones, you can record the sounds of the audience and at the same time the performance of the musicians directly from the mixer.
The microphones can be aligned in XY configuration or in AB orientation. The XY orientation provides a very clean image with a low phase shift, while the AB orientation creates a very wide stereo field in the recording.
In addition to its function as an audio recorder, the DR40X can now also be used as a USB interface with two inputs and outputs, making it an effective tool for live streaming, dubbing or music production.
The two Neutrik XLR / TRS combination sockets allow you to connect external microphones or line level audio sources. 48 V phantom power also allows condenser microphones to operate.
The dual recording function allows you to acquire two different shots in parallel to avoid distortions in any case. In addition to manual control, the three automatic Auto Level, Limiter and Peak Reduction modes are available.
Numerous functions such as the overdub function, the speed change, the depth filter, the markers, as well as the integrated tuner, the reverb effect and the built-in speakers have been taken from the previous model.
New is the dictation mode with simplified back and forth, speed change and special voice EQ which makes transcription of dictations much easier.
