Dynaudio Contour 30i are the HiFi floorstanding loudspeakers heir to the already performing Contour 30 of 2016. The brand new 30i are now equipped with the extraordinary Esotar 2i driver, new woofers, new crossovers and new cabinet structure. With the renewed Contour range, Dynaudio enhances the performance of a line developed and perfected over the decades.

The Contour 30i floorstanding loudspeakers have been created by combining the best of industrial and artisan skills, and constitute the central offer of a series dedicated to premium users who seek the very best in terms of audio and design.

Contour 30i takes it one step further than the 20i. Obviously, it enhances the very characteristics of the smaller model: honesty, transparency and pure fun… all on a larger scale. On the other hand, if you are looking for a High End loudspeaker for large spaces, then the choice falls on the older brother, the 60i, capable of filling any type of space with class.

Contour 30i is a new loudspeaker brimming with innovation

Like the rest of the new Contour i family, the 30i model features the all-new Esotar 2i tweeter – complete with the Hexis internal dome introduced in the top-line Confidence and Core series of professional studio monitors.

The best tweeter: Esotar 2i

The Esotar 2i tweeter, exclusive to Contour i, gets a new, larger rear chamber here. This, together with the Hexis patent, helps reduce unwanted resonances and flatten the frequency response – for even clearer and sweeter high frequencies. All this to improve a tweeter, the Esotar 2, in turn heir to a legendary tweeter and capable of rendering the high frequencies with a still unrivaled sweetness and musicality.

New woofer in MSP and new “spider”

Contour 30i have been equipped with two new 18cm MSP drivers, which are counterbalanced by a dual rear bass reflex. Behind the scenes the “spider” suspension (the elastic ring that keeps the woofer in the right place when it is at rest and controls it when it moves) was then modified. This is now made with aramid fibers and retains the ingenious structural properties already present (the ribs are now of variable width to have even more precise control of the excursion of the cone).

New aluminum spools, big and powerful

Contour 30i continues to use aluminum voice coils. These are extremely light, but also larger than previous copper units. The lighter coil weight allows for more wraps, and with larger diameters. All to have greater control over the movement of the cone. This means absolute dominance over the movements of the cones and therefore of the sound, especially at high frequencies and high volumes - exactly what you need in a mid/bass driver.

Ultra flat frequency response

As with the smaller Contour 20i model, the flatter frequency response provided by the new tweeter and mid/bass drivers have made it possible to streamline the crossover. Not that it wasn't stylish before, but now… well, you'll be able to judge for yourself and your ears. The improved crossover no longer needs impedance correction circuitry to optimize its performance, all linearity now resides in the driver itself, thanks to the physical properties of the materials used. Fewer components, cleaner signal path, better performance!

How the 2016 Contour has evolved

The new Contour 30i is the heir to the Contour 30, presented in 2016 and which greatly distanced the previous series. The speakers in the 2016 Contour line featured innovative components for the entire industry. Thanks to the “Finite Element Method (FEM)” technology, the Dynaudio developers have defined all the components in the 3D modeling phase, in order to obtain the maximum improvement of the components.

The Contour 30, from which the new 30i is now derived, was first equipped with the new 28mm Esotar 2 soft dome tweeter. The double 18 cm long excursion MSP woofer has been redesigned with a new system of aluminum coils (lightened and enlarged by 24%) and a new double magnet mechanical system.

Thanks to these new technologies, the excursion of the woofer has been increased by 70%, giving the speaker unequaled strength and extension in the low frequencies. The rounded aluminum baffle (always a key element of the Contour) was created from a single block of aluminum fixed inside the cabinet. This component, in addition to guaranteeing a great aesthetic effect, served to reduce the internal resonances of the speaker.

An epochal leap forward

In the 2016 Contour 30i, the version that led to the all-new 30i, the crossover and internal wiring have also been redesigned and improved. The rounded and double reflex cabinet has been specially designed to optimize the sound performance by minimizing internal resonances and vibrations. Contour 30 has become a best-selling loudspeaker in its class and still amazes thanks to the great level of technique and the natural transparency and extension of the sound. The Contour 30s, forerunners of the new 30i, were perfectly suited to medium-sized rooms, thanks also to the perfect floorstanding speaker dimensions and the high level of specific power that could be delivered.

The Dynaudio Contour 30i are High End loudspeakers and are designed for high-level applications, both in stereo and in multi-channel environments such as Home Theaters or LCR systems.
