Supra mains distribution block consisting of EU sockets compliant with European Standards, except UK, Ireland, Belgium and Italy. The input connector is a 10 amp male chassis connector to the international standard IEC-320, i.e. the same for most electrical media devices with a detachable power cord including earth lead. Provides a 10 amp fuse and non-intrusive filtering (NIF).

Requires an optional input power flex, see our mains power cord sets section.

Supra NIF Transient Filter

All models are fitted with Supra NIF (Non-Intrusive Filtering), an efficient high frequency (RFI) transient filter. It is designed and configured to efficiently suppress RFI interference, but not to dampen fast charge demands from the power supplies of connected devices. Supra NIF is developed by Ben Duncan Research in the UK.

All filters and protections require a wall socket with an earth terminal to work. If your hi-fi and multimedia equipment is of a certain standard, it will probably require earthing and use an IEC-320 socket for detachable power cords. If your equipment is such and you do not have an earth terminal in the wall sockets, we recommend that you contact your landlord and/or an electrician to arrange for an earth connection. This will undoubtedly improve both the sound quality and the safety of your equipment.

Supra LoRad Shielded Network Blocks in Aluminium Housing

Supra network blocks are shielded and radiate low levels of electrically generated fields by their aluminium chassis connected to earth potential. The conductive chassis drains internal interference to earth and also prevents adjacent RFI and other harmful fields from entering the distribution block. To work correctly, it must be connected to an earthed wall socket with a network cable that provides an earth wire. The mains cable from the mains block to the wall socket and the mains cables to each device should also be shielded for maximum interference damping/immunity. We recommend our Supra LoRad Mains Flex as the best alternative to combine with our Distribution Block. If you are new to mains shielding and filtering, you will definitely notice the difference.

The field leakage from the included standard mains cable to the vast majority of media devices is clearly detectable with our Supra AC Detector. Simply touch the included mains cable with the white tip of the AC Detector and you will hear a warning and see the tip rapidly flash red to indicate radiated fields from the mains. Now switch to a Supra LoRad mains flex and touch the cable with the tip… This field is contagious and will add a superimposed 50 – 60 Hertz signal to any nearby interconnect. Think about what a mains flex like that can do to a sub-woofer interconnect; the subwoofer will play a constant tone of the mains frequency superimposed on the music or movie signal. Efficient shields are one of the most important design features of Supra, you have earned the right to listen only to music!

From time to time we hear about creative alternative ways to arrange an earth connection if the wall socket does not provide it. There is one in particular that we would like to highlight as particularly dangerous and we hope that this statement does not serve as another creative way. Occasionally water radiators have been connected to hi-fi cabinets or to an earth contact plate of the mains distribution block. It works normally from an electrical point of view. Until the following happens; one of the devices fails and the cabinet is powered by the mains voltage of the wall socket. The water radiator system may not be properly earthed to earth potential. Now, this means that there may not be a large enough fault current through the water pipes to blow the fuse, thus disconnecting the faulty device. It also means that most pipes and radiators are powered by mains voltage from the wall socket. If this is in an apartment block, every neighbouring tenant has potentially lethal voltage in their radiators. It won’t show. Until, for example, small children touch the radiator. We strongly advise against the above or any other way of arranging an earth connection other than that required by local electrical safety laws and regulations.
