Final Audio D7000 new open-type planar High-End Over-Ear headphones

Equipped with a new driver with "Fin-Aligned" alignment, Final presents a new headphone that joins the top of the range D8000

Final Audio D7000 is the fourth headphone to join the Final Audio D Series, a series considered among the best in the world by audiophiles. This series represents the extraordinary capabilities of Japanese engineering in this sector and, in the case of the D7000, we find a renewed speaker structure, always supported by the Washi paper ear cushion. The exclusive AFDS magneto/planar driver perfectly combines the extreme definition of high frequencies typical of planar headphones, with the full volume and low frequencies of dynamic drivers. The diaphragm is one-third the weight of other manufacturers, resulting in fast, detailed high-frequency response. The headset comes with an interchangeable cable and is made of an aluminium/magnesium alloy. The Travel Sentry hard case is supplied for the first time. Final Audio D7000 will definitely make you want to listen to your favorite songs again, as well as all the new ones!

Final Audio D7000 was developed taking into account the initial concept of the brand's first flagship headphone, 2017's Final Audio D8000, further refining the search for the ideal structural design. In this regard, a new driver with "Fin-Aligned Diffuser" alignment and a new, more efficient "Air Film Damping System (Final AFDS patent)" air damping system have been developed. D7000 joins its bigger brothers Final Audio D8000 and Final Audio D8000 Pro Edition.

Final Audio D7000 expertly balances the delicate sound of high frequencies, characteristic of magneto/planar headphones, with the low frequencies present and full-bodied of the dynamics. Furthermore, what is most striking is the resolution, especially in the voices and strings, with a bright and homogeneous sound.

The general review of the structure has led to a weight reduction of approximately 16% compared to the D8000 and D8000 Pro Edition models. The headband and ear cushions use a special washi (Japanese paper) fabric known for its quality and resistance, improving both comfort and durability.

Newly developed "Pinna-Aligned" diffuser

The concept of acoustic improvement through targeted diffusion of sound, which is becoming the standard in professional recording studios, has been applied to the D7000 headphones.

Although the idea of the speaker had already been considered in the initial design of the D8000, it required years and numerous listening tests before it was properly developed and inserted inside the headphone housing. While on the one hand the measurements carried out in ideal conditions with the measuring instruments gave good results, real listening with various conformations of the auricles revealed significant differences in the quality of the sound, always due to the different external shape of the ear (pinna). among individuals. To solve this problem, numerous simulations adapted to the various shapes of the external ear were conducted, with real listening experiments, which led to the creation of an optimal speaker shape for all users.

Sound balance between the highs of a magneto/planar headphones and the lows of a dynamic driver

Low range: The driver unit of conventional magneto/planar headphones is normally designed to have a higher limit on the lowest frequency it can reproduce, this is to prevent the diaphragm from bottoming out when the playback volume is high. To compensate for the lack of bass due to this design choice, the earcup cushions are designed to seal the ear in the best possible way, in order to create a closed box in front of the diaphragm. Although this method allows sound to be reproduced down to the lowest frequency range, the bass almost always lacks a sense of openness and depth.

In the D7000 model, the AFDS (Air Film Damping System) solves the problem of the diaphragm contacting the magnet (bottom stroke), so it is not necessary to raise the limit of the lowest bass frequency that the driver unit can reproduce. Together with the breathable ear pads, this system allows you to reproduce bass-rich sound with a sense of openness that can normally only be achieved with a dynamic driver.

High range: In the reproduction of high frequencies, the lightness of the diaphragm comes before anything else. Compared to other dynamic models with the same driver diameter, the D7000's diaphragm is 1/3 lighter. The thin aluminum voice coil is engraved on the very light diaphragm, avoiding the adhesive necessary to glue the voice coil to the cone of a dynamic driver. With the D7000, these problems have been solved, benefiting the reproduction of perfect high frequencies.

Designed to last over time

D7000 are designed to last over time, but in the event of a malfunction, almost all parts can be dismantled using dedicated screws and replaced. This is not something to be taken for granted today, even when talking about very expensive competitive headphones.

Structure in aluminium/magnesium alloy

To make the AFDS driver, extreme precision is required, compared to generic driver units on the market. This precision is ensured by the perfect processing of the aluminum and magnesium alloy structure.

Designed and created completely in Final Audio

The D Series is completely manufactured in-house at our Kawasaki headquarters. The accuracy of product assembly depends not only on the accuracy of the components, but also on that of the mounting jigs. We design and make production jigs in-house, so we can precisely adjust for small variations in component accuracy during assembly. We also develop products unique to the D Series, including production equipment such as diaphragm molding machines and measuring instruments such as diaphragm tension meters.

Hard travel case with cable storage

A new Travel Sentry hard case is supplied with the headphones, which is convenient to carry and also has dedicated space for accessories and cables. It can be locked.

Sound quality differences between D7000/D8000/D8000 Pro Edition

Thanks to the use of newly developed drivers and the "Pinna Align" speaker, Final Audio D7000 has a sound that satisfies both in terms of volume, with full-bodied bass and precise and delicate highs which are the distinctive features of the Final Audio D8000 and Final Audio editions D8000 Pro. It has a high resolution for voice and string instruments, being closer to the ear, making the sound more homogeneous.

Unlike the D8000, which are more dedicated to listening to classical music, Final Audio D8000 Pro Edition offer higher resolution sound quality when listening to pop and rock music.
