PowerAmpster 2 is the 2 x 100W power amplifier from Tangent, a very powerful mini amplifier capable of driving large HiFi speakers. PowerAmpster 2 is designed to be paired with Tangent preAmp 2 to obtain high-level performance while significantly reducing its size.

Tangent PowerAmpster 2, compact HiFi power amplifier

Tangent PowerAmpster 2 is the latest addition to the compact Danish electronics of the Ampster family. In particular, this power amplifier is designed to be paired with the Tangent preAmp 2 preamplifier and is an alternative amplification to the famous Ampster BT 2.

The Ampster family has always been characterized by very compact dimensions with excellent performance, particularly excellent considering the cost level of the devices, truly ultra-competitive.

Its refined design is in line with the entire range of Ampster products, integrating perfectly within it. Designed by the best Danish designers, it is in fact able to give a unique style to any type of furniture.

With PowerAmpster 2, Tangent now also allows the driving of HiFi speakers of decidedly significant size or quality, be they the acclaimed LS50 Meta or the Dynaudio Emit 30. In fact, with a power of 2 x 100W PowerAmpster 2 is able to drive even floorstanding speakers with agility, a difficult task for previous solutions…

The stylistic figure of Ampster is confirmed to be a sound imprint and a high-level authority, which the dimensions do not predict but which are expressed when switched on. As with all Tangent products, PowerAmpster 2 is a product of the Danish Brand imported and supported in Italy exclusively by HIFIGHT.

Who is PowerAmpster 2 for

The new power amplifier from Tangent was created to meet the listening needs of those who demand good sound in small spaces, typically in normal living rooms and apartments.

Thanks to its power reserve, it is now possible to increase the volume to party levels or use larger, higher-quality speakers, which typically require more “muscle”.

Able to deliver 2 x 100W in Stereo or 200W in Mono, PowerAmpster 2 features RCA and XLR analog inputs in addition to high-quality terminals for connecting speakers that accept any type of termination: spades, bananas and bare wire.

The mono mode allows for greater versatility of use: first of all, it allows you to dedicate a PowerAmp to each individual speaker, thus ensuring greater power and dynamics, and it can also offer positioning advantages: that is, by positioning the power amplifier near the speaker.

Very convenient in Home Cinema solutions or for Multiroom sound systems, where the speakers are not arranged in the room in the classic stereo configuration. You can use your Audio/Video receiver as a pre-amplified source and dedicate its own power amplifier to each speaker.

The ideal solution to the fight against interference: we will have a longer signal cable and a power cable, which is more subject to interference, which is decidedly shorter!

The selection of stereo/mono mode can be done via a convenient selector on the back.

Perfect amplifier for high-level speakers

Why choose an amplification in mono configuration? There are three main answers. First of all, the most obvious answer: Those who want music at high volume, perhaps to party, need power. Otherwise, by turning up the volume... the amplifier can't cope: it's like going on the highway with a microcar, you press the accelerator but... nothing can happen and it certainly doesn't accelerate.

Here, a little additional power offers that "punch" that otherwise wouldn't be there.

Secondly, a reserve of Watts is needed to be able to combine more demanding speakers. While it is true that you can drive a bookshelf speaker with the classic stereo power amp configuration, a floorstanding speaker offers a much higher performance and dynamics if controlled by a dedicated power amp.

Finally, more power allows you to listen better even at low volume, and perhaps this is the most important thing of all if you want to enter the world of High Fidelity: More powerful amplification allows for more intelligible audio especially at low volume.

Pair it with preAmp 2, CD 2 and Tuner 2

The PowerAmpster 2 power amp requires a preamplifier as a source collector. Its ideal travel companion is the Tangent preAmp 2, which is also compact but extremely musical and equipped with all the necessary inputs.

You can then complete your Hi-Fi system with Ampster Tuner 2 and Ampster CD 2. In the same form factor and size, in fact, you can equip yourself with a small CD player and an FM and DAB + radio.

All the components, which enjoy a minimalist but very attractive design, can be easily stacked, taking up little space and becoming a truly complete Hi-Fi system with three or even four electronics.

Speakers to match

The possibilities offered by the pre + power amplifier combination allow you to drive any type of speaker. Perfect for a pair of bookshelf speakers, it can also drive floor-standing speakers for a soft and diffused audio.

Tangent offers a wide range of speakers that allow you to obtain a homogeneity of timbre and design. Try it with the award-winning Tangent Spectrum X4 or Spectrum X5, slightly larger, for an extraordinary combination and result, or why not with the majestic Tangent X6 floor-standing speakers.

Thanks to its power and musicality, it is also possible to combine speakers of the caliber of Kef Q series, Dynaudio Emit and Prestige Facet, perhaps the most refined partner.

Cables to use with PowerAmpster

You can connect the PreAmp 2 preamplifier to the PowerAmpster 2 via the classic unbalanced RCA analog cables, or even better via a balanced connection, always analog, XLR, inert to interference.

The PreAmp 2 instead will manage the sources, and is equipped with all the necessary inputs, whether analog, digital and even wireless, thanks to its latest generation aptX Bluetooth receiver.

To drive your speakers instead, you will just need to use two classic power cables with any type of connectors: spade, banana but also stripped cable.
