Description
Spherical tradition and acoustic innovation: the new benchmark
The Elipson Planet L Performance represents the most refined evolution of a French high-fidelity icon. This enhanced version of the celebrated Planet L retains the timeless spherical aesthetic that has made Elipson famous, but revolutionizes its technological core to achieve a new standard of quality. Each component has been redesigned to deliver remarkably pure sound and an immersive, engaging listening experience. The new two-way coaxial driver combines a 165 mm midwoofer with a treated cellulose pulp diaphragm and a 25 mm silk dome tweeter with a waveguide and neodymium magnet, integrated into a horn port that improves linear dispersion. This structure, combined with the new DAR® (Double Asymmetric Rubber) suspension, allows for perfect pistonic movement, ensuring a wide and controlled frequency response (46 Hz – 20 kHz ±3 dB). The result is precise timbre, faster and more defined bass, a wider soundstage, and even more detailed detail. The nominal power has been increased to 100W RMS, double that of the standard model, and sensitivity remains at 90 dB/1W/1m, making these speakers compatible with even more powerful amplifiers, up to 120W.
Every listen is transformed into an emotional narrative, with a three-dimensionality and spatial coherence that restores the true essence of music.
The icon that reinvented the shape of sound: the history of Elipson spherical speakers
To truly understand the Elipson Planet L Performance, we must go back in time to 1938, the year Elipson, the oldest French hi-fi manufacturer, was founded. From its earliest years, the brand revolutionized the concept of loudspeakers, breaking with the tradition of square shapes and introducing a spherical design that wasn't just an aesthetic quirk, but a scientifically engineered solution to reduce standing waves and achieve more uniform and neutral sound dispersion. From the 1950s onward, legendary models like the BS50 and AS40 set the standard and are now considered cult objects, even exhibited in design museums. The Planet series continues this legacy in the 2000s, adapting it to contemporary tastes and technologies. The new Planet L Performance is the perfect synthesis of this pioneering tradition and today's technological advances: a speaker that doesn't just sound great, but tells a nearly century-long story of ingenuity, vision, and passion for acoustics.
A sonic sculpture to experience every day
The Elipson Planet L Performance are more than just loudspeakers: they are instruments of everyday emotion, objects that transform any room into a space dedicated to authentic listening. Thanks to their compact yet acoustically optimized form and the numerous available finishes, they integrate perfectly with any type of decor, from the most classic to the most minimalist. They are available in three finishes: glossy (black, white, red), satin (black, white, blue, beige), and in the prestigious Gold Edition line with colors such as gold burgundy, gold dark green, gold black, and gold white. Aesthetics, however, do not sacrifice functionality: the Planet L Performance remains fully compatible with all accessories in the series, such as wall brackets, ceiling brackets, or floor stands, offering maximum installation flexibility. Even the packaging has been carefully designed to protect the speakers with care and practicality, making the purchasing experience simple and rewarding.
An immersive and engaging sound experience
Listening to the Elipson Planet L Performance is like entering a parallel dimension where music comes to life in all its complexity. Every note, every harmonic, every breath of the artist emerges with surprising realism and naturalness. The voices are present, warm, and clear; Acoustic instruments stand out for their timbral fidelity and definition; low frequencies are fast, articulated, never bloated or intrusive. Even in tracks rich in sonic overlays, the Planet L Performances maintain order and clarity, managing to convey every nuance without listening fatigue. The soundstage extends well beyond the physical limits of the speakers, enveloping the listener and projecting the sound into space with impressive spatial coherence. This ability to convey emotion and detail, without ever falling into analytical coldness, is perhaps the most distinctive quality of the Elipson project.
Art, engineering, and vision: the Elipson philosophy
Behind every Elipson creation lies a precise philosophy that has guided the company for decades: to create objects that are both instruments of the highest audio quality and works of design to be experienced every day. With the Planet L Performance, this vision reaches its highest point. Every design choice—from the type of driver to the membrane material to the crossover design—was guided by the search for the perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and performance. This speaker is not only beautiful to look at, but also responds to an impeccable technical logic, capable of satisfying the most demanding audiophile as well as the user who simply wants to listen to their favorite music. In a market often homogenized and devoid of identity, Elipson continues to stand out for its originality, expertise, and courage, carrying on a tradition rooted in science but also nourished by culture and artistic sensibility.
