ATC SCM20 - PAIR

ATC's SCM20 is the 2-way bookshelf speaker in the Classic Series, and is the ideal choice for modestly sized rooms where performance cannot be compromised.

All components are handcrafted in-house by ATC. The 25mm soft dome tweeter boasts a unique doped polyester double suspension design, which reduces unwanted oscillation for greater control, and a massive 2.1 tesla high-energy motor.

The 150 mm woofer with a large 75 mm voice coil and a powerful Short-coil motor, features ATC's SL technology which drastically reduces the distortion typical of moving-winding drivers by 12-15dB (third harmonic).

The crossing point between the 2 drivers is managed by a second order crossover with oversized air inductances. The capacitors are made of high voltage polypropylene film, which ensures high reliability and minimal losses.

The ATC SCM20 SL loudspeakers require generous amplification to be able to express themselves at their best. To get the right control, we recommend the SIA2-100 integrated amplifier or the P1 dual-mono power amp from the same brand. To obtain excellent sonic transparency combined with great dynamics, we suggest Hegel's integrated amps, especially the H190 model or its older brother H390. To remain in the UK, the Cyrus i9-XR integrated amplifier returns an excellent performance in terms of timing and detail.

Lyngdorf's integrated TDAI-3400, in addition to extreme versatility in terms of connectivity, offers room acoustic correction through the Room Perfect processor.

Design

The closed cabinet design guarantees exceptional rhythmic precision (timing) and excellent control of the bass driver over its entire operating band, reducing non-linear distortion. Furthermore, the absence of a reflex port allows the speakers to be positioned relatively close to the walls without excessive bass reinforcement: in this way it manages to return a bass that sounds fast, controlled and fully representative of the audio signal.

The cabinet is massive, solid and inert, and integrates bitumen damping panels placed at critical points to minimize cabinet response.

SCM20 is an analytical and very powerful loudspeaker that offers a very articulate, clear and detailed reproduction especially on the medium frequencies.
