The Audioquest Monsoon XTRM power cable differs from its sibling, the Monsoon, in that it features superior quality 'De Luxe' connectors from the Mistral series, which guarantee optimal clamping force for improved conductivity and maximum performance. The Mistral series connectors are in fact made of a thick layer of silver over red copper and beryllium copper. Even though the Monsoon XTRM is only the entry level of the Monsoon series, it is still made of excellent materials. In fact, for the conductors, which are of a larger gauge, perfectly smooth surface copper (PSC+) and long grain copper (LGC) are used. This is then equipped with the well-known "Ground Noise Dissipation System" technology, a multi-layer shield that absorbs high-frequency noise before it enters the conductors. In this cable, the conductors are of the True-Concentric type (concentric geometry) in order to avoid any interaction between the strands or any magnetic confusion. To meet the high current demands, the Monsoon power cable features low resistance and zero impedance. ZERO (No) Impedance technology allows for uncompressed current transfer. The effects of both these technologies translate into the sonic benefits this cable delivers: power handling, stability, low distortion with relatively quieter playback, lower background noise, and increased detail and dynamics.
