New power cord with solid PSC+ copper conductors. New 72V dielectric bias system with Level-X radio frequency trap (DBS) and NDS Noise-Dissipation System. 3 Conductors: 3.31 mm²
The AudioQuest Blizzard cable replaces the Audioquest NRG-10 cable.
The AudioQuest Blizzard resembles the Monsoon in many ways, but this cable is the first in the series to feature DBS, AudioQuest's patented system that polarizes the molecules in the insulation using a 72-volt voltage, thus orienting them in one direction, resulting in reduced distortion. The difference in sound quality is remarkable.
The AudioQuest Blizzard features only solid PSC+ conductors combined with the renowned "Noise-Dissipation System" (NDS) that absorbs high-frequency energy. The sonic result is more "timbre," a quieter soundstage, and, through the use of NDS, more background detail. It has more bass definition and more finesse in the highs than an AudioQuest Monsoon.
FEATURES
Ground Noise Dissipation Technology: AC ground wires provide protection from power wiring faults, but they also act as antennas. Therefore, they are susceptible to induced radio frequency (RF) noise. This RF noise bypasses component power supplies and is typically coupled directly to the system's most sensitive audio/video circuitry. AudioQuest's patented Ground Noise Dissipation significantly reduces this distortion, producing unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest possible bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies. Our unique circuit topology utilizes a common-mode phase-cancelling array, coupled with proprietary dielectric materials that provide additional linear differential filtering. (U.S. Patent No. 9,373,439)
High-Purity Semi-Solid True-Concentric PSC+ Conductors: Blizzard uses only our purest copper: 100% Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+). Both the superior metal and conductor geometry greatly reduce ear-fatiguing transient intermode (TIM) distortion.
Uncompressed High-Current Transfer: While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance to accommodate high current demands, a cable's characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most AC cables that compress audio-induced transients, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and zero (no) characteristic impedance to deliver uncompressed high-current transients on demand.
Directionality: All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance change so that noise is dissipated from where it would otherwise cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to each batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. Where applicable, arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior audio quality. For most AQ cable models, the arrows not only indicate the direction that optimizes the directionality of the metal for noise dissipation, but also indicate the non-symmetrical connection of the shield and GND to optimize the performance of the entire system.
New 72V Dielectric Bias System with Level-X Radio Frequency Trap (DBS):
All insulation is also a dielectric whose electrical properties affect signal integrity. When insulation is unbiased, dielectric bias (nonlinear absorption and release of energy into the signal flow) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels. AudioQuest's multi-patented DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field that saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules in the insulation. This minimizes nonlinear time delays, resulting in clearer sound emerging from a "darker" background. The Level-X RF Trap (a technology developed for AudioQuest's Niagara Series power products) in the DBS battery pack "pulls" RF noise out of the cable, preventing it from leaking into the electronics. DBS Pack batteries last approximately 10 years. Use the test button to verify their condition.
