The top-of-the-line Audioquest Silver Cloud XTRM power cable from the Wind Series features luxurious Mistral connectors, ensuring a superior connection for both conductors and electronics, ensuring optimal conductivity for maximum performance. Mistral connectors are made of a thick layer of silver over red copper and beryllium copper. The Audioquest Silver Cloud XTRM is therefore a cable with a high-end edge, useful for adding the finishing touches to the definition and detail of the equipment to which it is connected. This cable is recommended for power-hungry components such as high-end amplifiers, to ensure they perform at their best. While the Silver Cloud XTRM is very similar in construction to the Blizzard XTRM, the difference lies in the use of solid PSS silver conductors. It features solid PSC+ copper and PSS silver conductors combined with Audioquest's renowned Noise-Dissipation System (NDS), which absorbs high-frequency energy. The use of silver conductors makes the mid-high octaves silkier, resulting in a larger stereo image and more detailed information. It also features Audioquest's patented DBS (Dielectric Strength Bias) system, which polarizes the molecules in the insulation using 72 volts of electrical current, causing them to orient in one direction. The result is lower distortion, resulting in enhanced detail, increased dynamics, and an open soundstage. An added benefit of DBS is that the cable comes out of the box feeling already broken-in, which greatly benefits the sound. Featuring ZERO (no) Impedance, this system ensures uncompressed high-current passage when required. Unlike most power cables, which constrain or compress audio-induced transients, Audioquest cables combine low resistance and ZERO characteristic impedance. Finally, because power cables often act as antennas, they are susceptible to induced radio frequency (RF) noise. This RF noise bypasses component power supplies and is typically coupled directly to a system's most sensitive audio/video circuitry. Audioquest's patented Noise-Cancelling Design significantly reduces this distortion, producing unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest possible radio frequency bandwidth (range). The unique circuit topology utilizes a common-mode phase-cancelling array, along with proprietary dielectric materials that provide additional linear filtering.
