The Audioquest Thunder High-Current Power Cable represents the entry level in Audioquest's new Storm Series of high-end power cables. These variable-current cables are optimized for connection to power conditioners or regenerators, large power amplifiers, as well as integrated amplifiers, A/V amplifiers, active speakers, or subwoofers. The Thunder High-Current thus provides power-hungry equipment with the best and cleanest current to maximize the performance of the entire system. These new Storm Series cables are uniquely constructed, with each of the ground, live, and neutral conductors individually constructed as separate wires, twisted together, and terminated with a specially designed socket on both ends. This unique design is highly effective at reducing RF noise and electromagnetic interference, resulting in less distortion, finer detail recovery, and lower background noise. The Thunder is crafted with a carefully selected combination of solid long-grain copper (LGC) and perfect-surface copper (PSC) conductors to ensure the best transmission with the lowest distortion. AQ's patented RF/ND-Tech noise-dissipating system minimizes the radio frequency noise that the cable inevitably picks up. Dielectric Biasing System (DBS) creates a constant dielectric field for the cable's primary capacitance or dielectric field, ensuring extended bandwidth and more uniformly filtered noise dissipation. DBS also ensures the RF noise-dissipating system operates as linearly as possible. Thunder is called variable current because it has a current capacity of 20 amps RMS at 125 VAC 50/60 Hz (16 amps RMS at 220-240 VA 50/60 Hz), so it can withstand current surges many times its continuous (average) RMS rating, making it the ideal cable for a wide range of products, even high-power ones.
