The Audioquest Tornado "Source" Constant Current Power Cable is optimized for use with components such as audio/video sources that have a constant or "fixed" current draw, and offers a significant performance improvement over comparable cables. The Tornado Source Constant Current is constructed with 50% perfect-surface copper (PSC) and 50% copper (PSC+) conductors, significantly increasing the cable's conductivity while also reducing distortion, as these copper types are far superior to those typically used in general. Other features of this cable include patented Ground Noise-Dissipation technology, ZERO (No) characteristic impedance, directionally controlled conductors, and a 72VDC dielectric bias system. The terminations are made of pure, silver-plated red copper, and the presence of the noise-dissipating system with a Carbon DBS package ensures that it truly functions as a Low-Z noise-dissipating system, just like the extraordinary Niagara AQ power products. This results in an extremely low noise floor, creating a truly black background that enhances every minute detail, widens the soundstage, and increases dynamic peaks. Audioquest's patented Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) instead reduces nonlinear distortions caused by the temporary accumulation of energy in a cable's insulation. In the Tornado, DBS is applied more strategically, as dielectric noise reduction takes second place to DBS, extending the bandwidth and efficiency of the all-important RF noise dissipation.
Note:
The Audioquest Tornado/Source power cord is not suitable for use with power conditioners, power regenerators, isolation transformers, or any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered speaker, receiver, or integrated amplifier (tube or solid-state) because these products require higher RMS and transient current capacity. In extreme cases, it may suffer a reduction in performance and/or present an electrical hazard by exceeding the maximum current capacity of the power cord. For these applications, the High Current cable is recommended.
