The Audioquest Hurricane Constant Current Power Cable represents a significant improvement over the lesser Tornado model because it is made exclusively with Perfect Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, a type of copper with a completely smooth surface that ensures improved conductivity, further reducing interference and losses and delivering cleaner current to the source to which it is connected. This type of constant current cable is optimized for use with components such as audio/video sources, which have a constant or "fixed" current draw. Compared to its "High Current" counterpart, it features smaller-diameter conductors. Like all Storm Series cables, this cable is uniquely constructed, as each of the ground, live, and neutral conductors is individually constructed as separate wires, twisted together, and terminated with a specially designed plug on both the source and receiver ends. This unique design is highly effective at reducing RF noise and electromagnetic interference, resulting in minimized distortion, finer detail, and a lower noise floor. This elevates audio performance to very high levels, with greater detail resolution and increased dynamics. Audioquest's Dielectric Bias System (DBS) reduces nonlinear distortions caused by temporary energy accumulation in a cable's insulation. By creating a constant dielectric field for the cable's primary capacitance, or dielectric, DBS ensures extended bandwidth and more uniformly filtered noise dissipation, eliminating distortion.
Note:
The Audioquest Hurricane/Source power cable is not suitable for use with power conditioners, power regenerators, isolation transformers, or any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered speaker, receiver, or integrated amplifier (whether tube or solid-state) because these products require higher RMS and transient current capacity. In extreme cases, performance may be reduced and/or the power cable's maximum current capacity may pose an electrical hazard. For these applications, we recommend using the High Current cable.
