SR35 is the new entry level DAP Digital Audio Player by Astell & Kern, the Korean company that has always specialized in the creation of uncompromising portable products.

The SR35, which takes the place of the SR25MKII, represents a prestigious starting point for entering the world of high quality portable Hi-Fi signed by Astell&Kern.

A&norma benefits from the modern touch screen graphic interface on a 3.6" 720x1280 TFT LCD HD display, immediately appreciated for its simplicity and intuitiveness, as well as for its very captivating aesthetic appearance.

The touch-screen, like all the functions of the A&norma SR35, is governed by a new latest generation quad-core CPU useful both for processing audio signals faster and at the same time giving immediate access to the user interface. The SR35 chassis is made entirely of aluminum turned from solid with a machine capable of working on 5 axes simultaneously, using the same technique that is applied in the construction of high-end watch cases, a particularity of A&K that ensures maximum rejection from any disturbance. The SR35's new circuitry is also optimized to generate as little noise as possible, from the new filters to the PCB signal path. From a design point of view, the new SR35, although similar to the SR25MKII that it is retiring, has a newly designed volume knob, more manageable, and partly inspired by the SA700.

The SR35 employs a quadruple DAC - a rarity for portable devices - MasterHIFI™ Cirrus Logic CS43198, a chip, according to A&K, capable of returning extremely accurate reproduction of live music. It is possible to select the operation of the dac section in both quadruple and dual mode. When properly coupled to an analog output stage of a similar level, as in the SR35, this chip is unrivalled.

The A&norma SR35 plays any digital file up to 32-bit/384kHz resolution, bit-to-bit, while native DSD files are played up to 256/11.2MHz while higher resolutions are converted to PCM. SR35 is also MQA compliant and Roon ready.

The amplification section is no different. Separate Next Generation Amp amplifiers with Teraton Alpha technology are used, where it is possible to select the output gain based on the connected headphones on two values: normal or high.

Through the USB connection A&norma SR35 can be used as hard disk storage of digital music and/or preamplifier with digital output, and has an internal memory of 64GB expandable up to 1tb through a microSD slot. It features dual band WiFi connectivity with DLNA streaming via AK Connect App, and Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD. The headphone output is with 3.5mm jack and two further balanced outputs are available on 2.5mm 4-pole and 4.4mm 5-pole jacks. The power supply and recharge takes place via a USB Type C cable and the internal lithium polymer battery has a duration of 21 hours, a real record for a device of this kind.
