Integrated stereo amplifier in class AB with power of 105W x ch into 8 ohms, 4 line level inputs, 2 digital inputs, Headphone input, MM phono output, New advanced pre-amplifier section, Alps volume potentiometer, Wolfson high DAC performance up to 192kHz / 24 bit, Direct input, Record input ('Record loop' functionality), Thermal sensor, Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
Rega presented its brand new Elicit MK5 integrated stereo amplifier, now in its fifth edition after the introduction of the original Elicit in 1990, years during which the build and sonic quality has gradually improved, with small but targeted interventions that have transformed this integrated into a real icon, a reference for the price category to which it belongs.
The main novelty of this latest edition is the brand new design of the DAC circuit, which was not purchased from third parties but was developed in-house at Rega in Essex, which saw the engineers also modify the analog circuit.
The digital input is available via galvanically isolated optical or coaxial inputs, and in addition to these, there are also four line inputs, a record input, plus a high-quality MM phono input, as for the first time you see the A high-performance 6.3mm headphone input appears on this amplifier.
The new MK5 builds on previous Rega designs using the award-winning Class A / B amplification circuit to deliver 105W per channel into 8 ohm loads and 127W per 6 ohm, up to over 160W per channel. 4 ohm loads, thus ensuring the ability to drive even the most difficult speakers very well.
This new amplifier represents a blend of the company's most successful products and promises to offer in addition to great sound, power and flexibility, in fact it now shares some design features taken directly from the acclaimed Aethos amplifier, such as eg. the same discrete FET based pre-amplification circuit.
In addition, an Alps volume potentiometer was introduced to further improve sonic and technical performance, as well as particular attention was paid to the selection of key audio components. such as discrete circuits, high quality relays, polypropylene capacitors and Sanken output transistors used for this new project.
As mentioned, one of the main innovations is represented by the presence on board of the Wolfson DAC, an excellent converter that allows accurate music reproduction with sampling frequencies supported up to 192 kHz, with bit depths from 16 to 24.
A really well-engineered integrated then, which can represent a point of arrival for all those looking for a flexible and performing machine, which guarantees a steady sound reproduction, with a great sense of rhythm and an excellent scenic reconstruction, winking not only to digital but also to analog, allowing you to connect a turntable with an MM cartridge to it.
