In addition to having created two marvels of sound reproduction with the StudioDeck and UltraDeck turntables, MoFi, again in collaboration with famous designers, has also created a line of high-level cartridges.

Once again the collaboration with Allen Perkins of Spiral Groove has moved the bar a little further. While maintaining an absolutely competitive price level and within everyone's reach, these cartridges offer a level of fidelity usually only possible at much higher prices.

MoFi StudioTracker is the entry step into the range of MoFi Electronics turntable cartridges and represents the perfect step for those who want a quality product for faithful reproduction.

StudioTracker equips the MoFi StudioDeck+ model but can also be purchased on its own and mounted on other turntables.

How do you create a custom head?

MoFi has designed three new models of high output/efficiency moving magnet (MM) cartridges in collaboration with Allen Perkins of Spiral Groove. The MoFi heads use a Dual Magnet V-Twin motor that closely mirrors the stereo head design of an engraving lathe. Two powerful, low-mass magnets are carefully aligned parallel to the stereo recording grooves of the record for excellent channel separation and maximum recovery of recording detail. Normally this is the kind of performance attributed to MC (moving coil) cartridges, but without the need for a step-up transformer or expensive MC phono stage.

Allen has put a lot of work into fine-tuning these cartridges, removing resonances with the use of innovative and technologically advanced damping materials. Permanently attaching the stylus mounting section to the cartridge body has also added greater control over the physical interface between the stylus/cantilever and the magnets for maximum recovery of recording detail and improved bass definition and accuracy.

The result is rich, dynamic, accurate, wide-bandwidth sound and an extremely low noise floor for all three models.

Ultimately MoFi together with Allen Perkins has created a series of cartridges with MC performance from cost, versatility and MM interfacing.
