KEF KW1

Kef KW1 is a wireless adapter designed to work with compatible Kef subwoofers: KUBE 8b / 10b / 12b, Kc62 and KF92.

It allows you to connect one or two active subwoofers to the audio system, completely wirelessly, disconnecting them from the cable connection and greatly facilitating the installation of Home Cinema, Audio / Video and HiFi systems.

KW1 is a wireless adapter designed by Kef to work with all subwoofers of the English brand such as Kube 8b, 10b, 12b, including high end subs such as the brand new KF92 or the ultra high performance KC62 mini sub. KW1 integrates perfectly both with a receiver in an Audio Video system and with the most modern active wireless systems LSX, LS50 Wireless 2 and LS60 Wireless. Therefore it is recommended both in Dolby and LFE channel setups and in HiFi stereo applications. Indeed, thanks to the new connection device you can wirelessly connect two subwoofers, both wirelessly - the second receiver must be purchased separately.

The KW1 system allows you to position the subwoofers in an optimal way, frees you from the use of cables and therefore incredibly simplifies the installation of Home Cinema, AV or HiFi systems. It consists of a transmitter and a receiver of reduced dimensions and with a discreet appearance. Furthermore, the high quality of the wireless transmission allows every little detail of the audio track to be sent to the sub, maximizing the sound performance of the sound system.

Kef KW1 technology

The transmitter and receiver have been made with a design that allows them to go unnoticed. The transmitter is powered via USB while the receiver is powered directly from the subwoofer's expansion port, this means that in many cases it will not be necessary to add a power outlet.

Unlike other similar devices, KW1 operates in 5 GHz “broadband”, delivering high resolution audio up to 24 bit / 48 KHz. The operation of pairing the devices is easy and the arrangement of the sub in the optimal position is ensured by a connection distance of up to 30 meters in line-of-sight, that is, the ideal straight-line path of the digital signal.

An advanced channel selection algorithm, very low latency and signal encryption allow not only to enjoy the maximum listening experience, but to do it in total safety, avoiding any possible interference. The receiver is also available separately, this means that if you want you can drive two subwoofers with the same transmitter.

The transmitter

The kit's transmitter connects to your source, such as an amplifier, AV receiver, active speaker set such as LSX or LS50 Wireless 2. Here's how to use the kit:

1. PAIR - transmitter and receiver are associated with the factory settings, this button can be used to restore the pairing in case of problems

2. LINE IN - Stereo input of the audio signal. It is recommended to use both L + R inputs even when a mono signal is used; for this reason Kef includes a single cable adapter in the KW1 package

3. USB POWER SUPPLY - the transmitter is powered by a 5V / 1A micro-B USB input

4. PAIR LED - indicates pairing status with the receiver

The Kef KW1 RX receiver

The KW1 RX receiver unit, which is included in the complete kit and can also be purchased separately, connects to the back of the subwoofers and is compatible with any Kef sub with 4-pin expansion port (Kube 8b / 10b / 12b , KF92). A second KW1 RX device can be used to associate a second subwoofer to the same transmitter. Perfect for home cinema systems as well as to get an incredible sound system with one set of LSX and two Kube 8b.
