The Dynaudio Contour 20 Black Edition is born from a bold vision: elevating an award-winning classic to a new level of prestige and refinement. Characterized by the "Dark star" shade, this special version dares to push even further in terms of design and performance, exploring the "dark side" of high fidelity to deliver an unparalleled listening experience.

The creative restlessness of Dynaudio engineers

At Dynaudio's facilities, innovation is driven by constructive dissatisfaction: Danish technicians never stop until they grasp an aspect to improve. They experienced this process in 2016 when Contour was redesigned with a new look, and again in 2020, with the update to the 'i' series, enriched by technologies from the Confidence range. Today, with the Dynaudio Contour 20 Black Edition, the same "restlessness" has pushed them to integrate radical improvements in every detail.

    Cabinet: an engineering gem

The structure of the Contour 20 had already stood out for its stability, thickness, and rigidity, with a curved design intended to minimize standing waves and unwanted vibrations. In the Black Edition, the same cabinet is enhanced by a thick aluminum front baffle (much thicker than it appears to the naked eye) that increases robustness and further reduces sound diffraction. The result is an excellent starting point, further refined with every possible trick learned in decades of research at the Dynaudio Labs.

    "An award-winning classic radically evolves,
    surpassing every expectation
    and once again redefining
    the limits of sound excellence"

Esotar 3 Tweeter: the pinnacle of high frequencies

At the top of the high-frequency performance, we find the Esotar 3 tweeter, the best ever made by Dynaudio to date, taken directly from the flagship Confidence series. Equipped with a soft dome with DSR (Dynaudio Secret Recipe) coating, it boasts millimeter precision in the application of the coating, optimized by the coordinated action of manual and robotic processes. This approach eliminates any unwanted coloration, leaving room only for the pure signal and a very high-level high-frequency extension.

    Hexis: the hidden genius

Just behind the tweeter dome hides the Hexis, an inner dome with a series of tiny protrusions that channel the air movement to effectively dampen resonances. Its function is extraordinary: allowing the tweeter to "breathe" properly, controlling air flows and optimizing dispersion. Thus, every nuance, from the harmonics of stringed instruments to the attack of a cymbal, emerges with natural clarity and dynamic richness.

    Improved woofer: power and sensitivity

If the tweeter is the beating heart of high frequencies, the woofer of the Contour 20 Black Edition completes the range with a muscular and refined soul. The neodymium super-magnet, smaller but more powerful than traditional ferrite, increases driver sensitivity and frees up space inside the cabinet, improving airflow. The MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cone, a historic Dynaudio trademark, and the aluminum voice coil on a fiberglass support ensure impeccable control and rigorous reproduction of mid-low frequencies, without compromising low-end extension. The result is a more agile and detailed sound, with an impact that stands out in imaging and voice definition.

Redesigned reflex port: control and depth

From the outside, it might look like just a tube, but the reflex port of the Contour 20 Black Edition is the result of careful design. It is larger than that of the Contour 20i model and has special flares on both ends to reduce turbulence and increase low-frequency precision. All this translates into better low-end extension, with full-bodied and clean bass that doesn't "muddy" the midrange, delivering high levels of realism.

    "Contour 20 Black Edition:
when the elegance of absolute black meets technical perfection,
    sound becomes pure emotion"

    New generation crossover

Dynaudio has also reworked the crossover design, reducing the number of components to the bare minimum and adopting the highest quality parts (such as Mundorf capacitors and resistors, as well as a massive air-core coil and premium cables). The filter topology is second-order for both drivers, ensuring natural and linear behavior without the need for additional correction circuits. The result is a pure sound, with controlled directivity that highlights every detail.

A matter of style: None more black

It's not called "Black Edition" by chance. In this version, every detail has been painted, anodized, or finished in deep black: from the woofer basket to the tweeter flange, passing through the terminal plate and the front baffle. Echoing the famous quote by Nigel Tufnell ("How much more black could this be? None!"), the result is a total black aesthetic with great scenic impact. It also emphasizes the decisive character of a speaker that is "stealth" only in appearance, because once turned on, the sound effect is anything but discreet.

Made in Denmark: the pride of Dynaudio craftsmanship

The Contour 20 Black Edition, like every high-end Dynaudio speaker, is handcrafted at the Skanderborg facilities in Denmark. Here, tradition and cutting-edge technology merge: from the selection of top-quality materials to meticulous quality controls, each phase takes place in an environment where passion for music is the true driving force.

The Contour 20 Black Edition embodies the idea that, even in the face of an already praised and globally recognized speaker, there is still room for growth. Thanks to new technical solutions (Esotar 3 tweeter, even more sensitive woofer, enlarged bass port, excellent crossover) and a "total black" design that emphasizes its character, this version is a candidate to become one of the benchmarks in its category. Perfect for those seeking refinement, sound impact, and aesthetic uniqueness in a single product.
