The Audioquest FireBird Source power cable is the first in Audioquest's lineup to feature perfect-surface silver (PSS) conductors. By combining PSS silver with PSC+ smooth-surface copper, significant leaps in performance have been achieved, while maintaining a lower price due to the inclusion of PSC+ conductors. The introduction of PSS silver conductors offers the lowest distortion of the three conductor types used by Audioquest, meaning the source receives nearly unaltered current for improved performance. These constant current (Source) power cables are optimized for use with audio/video source components and computer peripherals that draw little to no current. The smaller conductors and improved noise-dissipating topology have been specifically designed to extract the best possible performance from the audio/video source components. Thanks to a more sophisticated noise-dissipation system than ever before, the FireBird guarantees a silent background that brings out every minute detail, increased dynamics, and a widening of the soundstage in three dimensions. Isolation is also meticulously crafted thanks to Audioquest's patented Dielectric Biasing System (DBS), which not only reduces nonlinear distortions caused by temporary energy storage in cables but also extends bandwidth, ensuring the RF noise-dissipation system operates as linearly as possible. Finally, all drawn metal conductors have an asymmetrical and therefore directional grain structure, and Audioquest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is channeled away from where it would otherwise cause distortion.
Note:
The Audioquest Tornado/Source power cord is not suitable for use with power conditioners, power regenerators, isolation transformers, or any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered speaker, receiver, or integrated amplifier (tube or solid-state) because these products require higher RMS and transient current capacity. In extreme cases, it may suffer a reduction in performance and/or present an electrical hazard by exceeding the maximum current capacity of the power cord. For these applications, the High Current cable is recommended.
