The Audioquest Dragon Source power cable represents the pinnacle of Audioquest's Storm Series, offering a substantial increase in pure silver (PSS) over the FireBird, resulting in improved performance across the board. When connected to top-of-the-line sources, the Dragon power cable truly demonstrates its value, enhancing the entire system in a way previously thought impossible. Thanks to its solid, perfect-surface silver conductors—the highest-quality metal Audioquest uses for its finest products—unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast are achieved. Because power cables can act as antennas and carry radio frequency (RF) noise into the system, this RF noise bypasses component power supplies and directly impacts a system's most sensitive audio/video circuitry. Audioquest's patented Ground Noise Dissipation (GND) greatly reduces this distortion, producing unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest possible radio frequency bandwidth (range). This unique circuit topology utilizes a common-mode phase-cancelling array, along with proprietary dielectric materials that provide additional linear differential filtering. The patented DBS system addresses the isolation issue by creating a continuous dielectric field for the cable's insulation. According to AQ, this provides greater bandwidth and helps remove noise. Additionally, it ensures the cable remains nearly always ready. Finally, it's worth noting that the Dragon Source has no characteristic impedance, as its name suggests.
Note:
The Audioquest Dragon/Source power cable is not suitable for use with power conditioners, power regenerators, isolation transformers, or any power amplifier, powered subwoofer, powered speaker, receiver, or integrated amplifier (whether tube or solid-state) because these products require a higher RMS and transient current capacity. In extreme cases, it may suffer a reduction in performance and/or present an electrical hazard by exceeding the maximum current capacity of the power cable. For these applications, we recommend using the High Current cable.
