USB 2.0 cable with solid long-grain copper (LGC) conductors, precision gold-plated USB Type A and B connectors, and foam-filled polyethylene (HCF) insulation
Since the introduction of streaming music and related devices, USB cables have no longer been relegated to connecting PC devices like printers and other devices, but have become increasingly important for data transfer, including high-definition music. Indeed, the Audioquest Pearl USB A-to-B cable was specifically designed for audio applications and represents an excellent entry point into the world of audio DACs. Unlike simple USB cables for computer use, a USB cable designed for music must ensure that the entire data packet arrives at its destination as accurately as possible, avoiding the notorious jitter that so often degrades sound quality. When data arrives at a different time, jitter is created, resulting in a harsh, digital-like sound. Therefore, to achieve a natural, non-aggressive sound, Audioquest developed the Pearl USB cable. This model is perfectly suited for use with a computer or NAS with an external USB DAC. For the Pearl USB cable, Audioquest used a special copper conductor called Long Grain Copper (LGC), which offers very low distortion, lower than conventional oxygen-free copper. This LGC copper contains few oxides and impurities, and its structure is more regular. The Pearl cable uses polyethylene insulation for the vacuum conductor to eliminate signal distortion, while a metal strip completely envelops the polyethylene jacket to shield the signal from any possible interference. Finally, the solder used is of the highest quality and has a low silver content to optimize resistance.
