HiFi ROSE RS451 is a next-generation network streamer designed to deliver high-end audio performance in a more compact and versatile format than ROSE's flagship models. Derived from the architecture developed for the prestigious RS151, it combines an advanced digital conversion system, a dedicated preamplifier section and a powerful headphone amplifier in a single sophisticated component.
At the heart of the design are two ESS ES9027PRO DACs: one dedicated to the preamplifier output and one assigned to the headphone section. This configuration keeps the analogue signal paths completely separate, helping to minimise interference and optimise the performance of both sections.
The RS451 supports high-resolution playback up to 32-bit / 768 kHz PCM and DSD512, features a large 8.8-inch touchscreen display, network connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI eARC, balanced analogue outputs and three different headphone connections.
The RS451 has been developed to provide the performance and versatility of a high-end network streamer while occupying less space than ROSE's larger reference components.
Its slim chassis makes it easy to install on a desk, inside a cabinet or as part of a traditional Hi-Fi system. The aluminium enclosure follows ROSE's distinctive design language, combining clean lines, precision machining and a construction intended to integrate elegantly into a wide range of listening environments.
One of the most important features of the RS451 is the use of two ESS ES9027PRO DACs.
One converter is dedicated to the preamplifier outputs, while the second is reserved for the headphone amplifier. Each DAC benefits from independent power and ground arrangements, helping to isolate the signal paths and reduce noise.
The ES9027PRO is a 32-bit, 8-channel ESS DAC featuring HyperStream architecture. In the RS451, the eight channels are configured in a four-channel parallel arrangement for each stereo channel, increasing dynamic performance and reducing noise.
Seven digital filters are also available, allowing the digital response to be tailored to individual listening preferences.
The RS451 supports high-resolution audio files and sources up to 32-bit / 768 kHz PCM and DSD512.
Through the ROSE DPC™ processing system, PCM sources can also be converted to DSD and upsampled up to DSD512, allowing users to process PCM material using the player's DSD conversion architecture.
The headphone section is one of the defining features of the RS451.
The dedicated headphone DAC feeds four high-performance amplifier stages, individually driven and designed to provide powerful and stable control even with demanding low-impedance headphones.
The separate power architecture for the different channels helps reduce crosstalk, while the ultra-low-noise circuitry maintains a linear response across the entire audio spectrum.
Three headphone outputs are provided:
Output power reaches up to 2700 mW per channel at 16 Ohms through the 4.4 mm and 6.35 mm outputs, making the RS451 suitable for a wide range of demanding headphones.
The front panel features a large 8.8-inch IPS LCD touchscreen, developed around ROSE's "Visible Audio" philosophy.
The 1920 × 480 pixel resolution provides a clear and detailed display for album artwork, track information, settings and interface elements.
The touchscreen allows the player to be operated directly, while the large front-panel volume control provides precise and immediate level adjustment.
The RS451 can be connected to a home network through Gigabit Ethernet or via Wi-Fi using the supplied USB dongle.
A wide range of protocols and services is supported, including:
The ROSE platform also supports a wide range of audio and video formats, turning the RS451 into a comprehensive digital multimedia hub.
The RS451 incorporates Bluetooth 5.4 with a SIG-certified module based on the Qualcomm QCC3083 chipset.
The system supports the aptX codec together with profiles such as A2DP and AVRCP, providing a stable wireless connection with compatible devices.
One of the most important additions is HDMI eARC.
The eARC input allows the RS451 to receive uncompressed audio signals from a compatible television up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, making it possible to use the RS451 as the audio centre of a high-quality Home Entertainment system.
The connectivity has been designed to keep the player highly versatile while maintaining a clean and practical rear panel.
Inputs include USB-B, coaxial, optical Toslink, HDMI eARC and stereo RCA.
Outputs include balanced stereo XLR, stereo single-ended RCA, USB-C 3.0, coaxial and optical Toslink, in addition to the three dedicated headphone outputs.
The RS451 also features Trigger In/Out connections, useful for synchronising power control with other components in a Hi-Fi system.
The ROSE DPC™ forms the central digital processing system of the RS451. In addition to signal processing, it enables PCM sources to be upsampled to DSD512.
This allows DSD processing to be used even with PCM sources, giving the listener greater flexibility in the way digital material is handled.
The analogue section also incorporates ROSE NRA™ (Noise Reduction Analog), a technology designed to reduce noise while maintaining a consistent frequency response, including in the lowest frequencies.
The goal is to preserve the information contained in high-resolution sources and provide transparent, natural reproduction across the entire audible range.
Measuring 430 × 92 × 337 mm, the RS451 retains the traditional width of a full-size Hi-Fi component while significantly reducing its height compared with ROSE's larger streamers.
The aluminium chassis and carefully machined front panel give the unit an elegant contemporary appearance, while the connection layout has been designed to make installation straightforward in both desktop configurations and conventional Hi-Fi systems.
The HiFi ROSE RS451 is available in the following finishes:
Both versions share the same technical specification and differ only in their exterior finish.
HiFi ROSE RS451 is an especially attractive solution for anyone looking for a single component capable of combining network streaming, high-end DAC conversion, preamplification and headphone amplification.
The dual ES9027PRO architecture keeps the pre-out and headphone sections separate, while the four dedicated headphone amplifier stages provide substantial driving capability, with output power reaching up to 2700 mW at 16 Ohms.
The combination of PCM 768 kHz, DSD512, ROSE DPC™, ROSE NRA™, Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI eARC, Roon Ready and three different headphone outputs makes the RS451 an exceptionally versatile component.
The large 8.8-inch touchscreen, relatively compact dimensions and refined design complete a product equally suited to a traditional Hi-Fi system or a high-end desktop listening setup.
