HiFi ROSE RS151 is the flagship network streamer of the new-generation ROSE range, designed to become the digital heart of a high-end Hi-Fi system. Far more than a conventional network player, it combines a sophisticated ESS ES9039PRO DAC, digital and analogue inputs, balanced outputs, network connectivity, Bluetooth, HDMI eARC, 4K video management and a large 15.4-inch Full HD touchscreen display.
The RS151 represents a major evolution of the previous RS150B generation. Its digital section has been completely redesigned around the ROSE DPC – Digital Processing Core, developed to separately manage decoding, signal synchronisation and jitter reduction before digital-to-analogue conversion. The system also employs a high-precision Femto Clock and an ESS ES9039PRO DAC featuring fourth-generation HyperStream architecture.
The result is an exceptionally versatile digital source capable of playing Hi-Res files up to 32-bit / 768 kHz PCM and DSD512, managing streaming services and local music libraries, handling video content and operating as a DAC for external digital sources and compatible televisions.
At the heart of the RS151's digital architecture is the proprietary ROSE DPC module, derived from technology developed for ROSE's reference digital components.
The DPC separates the different stages of digital signal processing, managing format decoding, input synchronisation and jitter reduction. The high-precision Femto Clock provides accurate timing before the signal is transferred to the DAC through I²S data.
This architecture is designed to maintain an extremely precise digital signal and minimise timing-related interference during conversion.
Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by the ESS SABRE ES9039PRO, one of the most advanced DACs in the ESS range, featuring fourth-generation HyperStream architecture and eight independent conversion channels.
The RS151 achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 131 dB through its balanced XLR outputs and a specified harmonic distortion of just 0.0002%. Native playback extends to 32-bit / 768 kHz PCM and DSD512.
An up to DSD512 upsampling function is also available, allowing lower-resolution sources to be processed using the RS151's advanced digital architecture.
One of the most distinctive features of the RS151 is its large 15.4-inch Full HD IPS display with capacitive touch interface.
The screen allows the player to be operated directly without necessarily relying on a smartphone or tablet. Album artwork, metadata, virtual VU meters, playback information and video content can all be displayed.
The touchscreen interface effectively turns the RS151 into a fully autonomous multimedia source, making navigation through music libraries and streaming services particularly intuitive.
The RS151 runs Rose OS based on Android 12, powered by an ARM Rockchip RK3588 Octa-Core processor with 8 GB of LPDDR4X memory.
The platform supports a comprehensive range of streaming services and protocols, including:
The system can also handle extremely large music libraries, supporting up to approximately one million tracks.
The RS151 features 32 GB of eMMC memory dedicated to the operating system and provides an internal bay for a 2.5-inch SATA SSD.
Three USB 3.0 Type-A ports are available for external storage devices, including hard drives and SSDs.
The possibility of installing an internal SSD makes the RS151 particularly attractive to users who want to centralise their music collection without depending continuously on a computer.
By connecting a compatible USB CD drive, such as the ROSE RSA780, the RS151 can play CDs and support direct ripping of a physical music collection to the available storage.
This allows the RS151 to function as a complete system for digitising and managing a physical music library.
The RS151 features an HDMI eARC input, allowing a compatible television to be connected and the RS151 to be used as a DAC for TV audio, with support up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.
The HDMI 2.0 output also supports video content up to 4K UHD / 60 Hz, making the RS151 suitable for advanced audiovisual systems as well as conventional stereo setups.
The RS151 provides an extensive range of connections designed to integrate it into virtually any digital or analogue system.
Inputs include USB Type-B, coaxial, optical, AES/EBU, HDMI eARC and analogue RCA. Outputs include balanced XLR, RCA, AES/EBU, coaxial, optical and I²S via HDMI.
Trigger In/Out connections are also provided, allowing the RS151 to synchronise its power state with other components in the system.
For wireless sources, the RS151 incorporates Bluetooth 5.4 with a Qualcomm QCC3083 chipset and aptX codec support.
Network connectivity is also provided through Gigabit Ethernet, with Wi-Fi available via the supplied USB dongle.
ROSE has paid particular attention to the RS151's power supply. The player employs a linear power supply with a custom encapsulated toroidal transformer and separate power branches for the digital, analogue and power sections.
The chassis is constructed using 30 mm aluminium CNC-machined from solid material, with side elements designed to promote heat dissipation without the need for cooling fans.
The HiFi ROSE RS151 is available in two finishes:
Both versions share the same technical specification and differ only in their exterior finish.
HiFi ROSE RS151 is an exceptionally complete digital source designed for users who want to combine network streaming, high-end DAC conversion, multimedia playback and music-library management in a single component.
The combination of ESS ES9039PRO, ROSE DPC, high-precision clocking, PCM 768 kHz and DSD512 support provides a sophisticated digital platform, while the balanced XLR outputs allow straightforward integration into high-end stereo systems.
The large 15.4-inch touchscreen, support for major streaming services, internal SSD capability, CD ripping, HDMI eARC and 4K video management further expand its versatility.
The result is a component capable of becoming the true digital centre of a high-end Hi-Fi system, combining advanced digital technology, extensive connectivity, outstanding usability and premium construction.
