The Audiolab PPA7 is a high-performance phono preamplifier designed to enhance vinyl playback through carefully engineered analogue circuitry, versatile connectivity and modern listening features. Compatible with both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges, it also incorporates a dedicated headphone amplifier, Bluetooth transmission and a USB-C interface for digitising vinyl records.
The PPA7 is an excellent choice for listeners who want to improve their system's phono stage without sacrificing convenience. It can connect to an integrated amplifier, preamplifier or compatible audio system, becoming the dedicated control centre for analogue listening.
The phono stage is designed to amplify the delicate signal generated by a cartridge while keeping background noise low and providing accurate RIAA equalisation. Its dedicated analogue circuitry aims to deliver detail, tonal balance and natural musical reproduction, allowing the nuances embedded in vinyl grooves to emerge clearly.
Support for both MM and MC cartridges makes the PPA7 suitable for a wide range of analogue setups. MM cartridges benefit from a 47 kOhm input impedance and selectable capacitance of 100 or 220 pF. For MC cartridges, the input load can be selected between 100 and 330 Ohms, allowing practical matching with many compatible models.
The integrated current-feedback headphone amplifier allows you to enjoy vinyl without connecting a separate headphone amplifier. Its headphone output is designed to drive a broad range of headphones, supporting load impedances from 20 to 600 Ohms.
This feature also makes the Audiolab PPA7 suitable for desktop listening and private listening sessions, providing a direct signal path from turntable to wired headphones.
With its Bluetooth 5.3 transmitter supporting aptX HD, the PPA7 can send audio from vinyl records to compatible wireless headphones and speakers. This offers greater freedom when positioning the turntable and listening system, without being restricted by the location of the main system or the length of audio cables.
The USB-C interface allows vinyl audio to be transferred to a PC or Mac, making it possible to create digital copies of your record collection. Recording supports sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz and bit depths of 16 or 24 bits, providing flexibility for different archiving and quality requirements.
Adjustable USB recording gain from -12 to +3 dB helps optimise the captured signal according to the original recording and cartridge output level, reducing the risk of clipping during digitisation.
The 33 mm OLED display presents operating information, while accessible controls simplify cartridge adjustment and everyday operation. The included remote control adds convenience when managing the unit from the listening position.
The aluminium chassis is available in Black and Silver finishes, with compact dimensions and styling designed to complement other Audiolab components. Its low-noise power regulation architecture is engineered to provide stable operating conditions for the analogue circuitry.
