Chord Mojo 2 is the new portable DAC and headphone amplifier, evolution of the extraordinary Mojo. The best audio performance, the famous Chord Electronics transparency and new features in a perfect form factor and with a longer battery life.

Mojo2 the best DAC and headphone amplifier in the world

The evolution of the Best Seller portable DAC

HIFIGHT is pleased to introduce Mojo 2 by Chord Electronics, the world's most compact and performing portable DAC and headphone amplifier, designed and built in the UK. Distinctly different from any other HiFi device, Mojo 2 uses proprietary digital audio technology, perfected in over two decades of research and now coupled with a powerful "FPGA" processor. The result is unmatched sound quality, class-leading both on the go and at home, with the ability to effortlessly drive any headset. Mojo 2 brings you closer to music than any other portable DAC or system.

The new version of the DAC features a design that is the direct evolution of the parent model. Immediately visible and stylistic signature of Mojo 2, the fourth button - as always in Chord Electronics - also acts as a status indicator. The new key is designed to navigate the menus, set the muting function and adjust the cross-feed on four possible levels. Mojo 2 is completely made in UK with an aeronautical aluminum chassis and, thanks to its small dimensions (about 8 x 6 x 2 cm) and the feather weight (185 grams), it guarantees a remarkable portability. The engine of the new DAC is the Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA processor, the same that is also possible on the Hugo 2 DAC, which allows greater connectivity, however, giving up great handling.

Compatible with Poly for Streaming

Mojo 2 does not change its aesthetics and shape, instead drastically improving everything else, to remain firmly at the absolute top of portable DACs. The new Mojo is designed to be used alone, as a pure DAC connected to a Smartphone or any digital home source, or in combination with the Poly wireless streaming module, which makes the entire system become wireless.

Mojo 2 is Chord Mojo to the nth degree: the pluses

Improved battery and charging logic: it is now possible to leave Mojo 2 always connected to the PC or power supply without degrading the life and performance of the battery pack

Improved power filtering, now even quieter playback when plugged into an electrical outlet

Best noise carpet

Improved 3.5mm headphone jack connectors, now with more solid and durable connection

Increased dynamic range and greater control: more "truth" to the headphones and ears!

4 equalizations: able to "soften or smooth out" the roughness and excessive granularity of HighEnd headphones at high frequencies

New USB-C port optimized for new tablets and smartphones. Ideal position for maximum durability and ergonomics!

Coax digital input with dual data connection - capable of connecting to an upscaler (Chord Mscaler) for an even higher level of quality

Really improved sound quality

The Benchmark - the touchstone

The Mojo 2 was designed to enhance the already spectacular performance of the first Mojo. At the heart of the new Mojo 2 is the world's first lossless DSP, an advanced "digital tone control" that operates without causing any degradation in sound quality. The "UHD DSP" gives the Mojo 2 unrivaled compatibility with headphones, as well as unprecedented flexibility with associated HiFi equipment. Another key feature is the new menu system, navigable via the new (fourth) control sphere, which offers direct and immediate adjustment of the mute, cross feed, button lock and tone control.

Mojo 2 offers significantly improved battery management, with faster charging speeds, a 75% reduction in power loss over time and a 9% capacity increase. Translated, it covers the canonical 8 hours of listening well.

Hand-assembled and carefully crafted in the UK, the Mojo 2 comes with a sturdy, CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminum chassis. Mojo 2 offers unrivaled performance, class-leading sound and unmatched build quality. Every review around the world hails Mojo2, the new and better way to listen. music on the go.

Unique FPGA technology

For over 20 years, Chord Electronics has used powerful programmable circuits (FPGAs) exclusively in its DACs to provide the world's most advanced digital-to-analog conversion performance. With digital audio technologies perfected over two decades, Mojo 2 contains more digital audio know-how than any other small DAC, with unrivaled sound quality, all supported by unparalleled technical measurements from the lab. The sonic performance is here obtained thanks to a new digital WTA filter characterized by (do not be afraid of the layman) 40,960 taps and 40 DSP cores. The equipment comes dangerously close to the premium Hugo 2 DAC, equipped with 49,152 taps. What are these "taps"? In practice, they are the unit of measurement of the potential of the digital filter: a greater number of "taps" means a better and finer result.

Functionality

Mojo 2 offers multiple ways to connect to digital devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops, as well as two 3.5mm headphone outputs, meaning two people can listen at the same time. Digital inputs include a fast transfer USB-C, Micro-USB, optical and coaxial port, with charging via a separate dedicated Micro-USB input.

Apple, Windows, Android, iOS, Linux compatibility

Mojo 2 can be used with virtually every device on the market and operating system. From Android to iOS, passing from Windows, macOS and Linux.

Mobility accessories

You can cover Mojo 2 with a dedicated cover or choose to protect it together with the Poly streamer, in a single solution. In both cases, Chord Electronics offers high-quality leather covers designed to last over time.

Always connected, without fear of the battery

The Intelligent Desktop Mode feature is introduced in Mojo 2 to preserve the battery. It is now possible to leave Mojo 2 on charge for long periods without this leading to a degradation of the storage unit. In this way the battery life is extended, even by a lot. The name of the feature suggests its more classic use, that is when you use the device connected to a PC or Mac in a fixed location: despite being a product designed for total portability, the top-level performance of Mojo 2 makes it fully usable in combination with fixed domestic systems.

Mojo 2's popular polychromatic light buttons offer easy control with additional visual guidance on device settings. A new menu button offers navigation through an innovative range of functions, including the all-important fully transparent UHD DSP function. To all intents and purposes Mojo 2 is the first portable device in the world equipped with a totally lossless Ultra High Definition DSP: this digital processor is, among other things, an advanced equalizer that allows you to parameterize listening according to different presets and personal tastes. The DSP also adapts the response of the DAC to the various types of headphones on the market. Recall here that Mojo 2 has two headphone outputs.

Mojo 2 + Poly = LOVE

A new USB-C data input adds more flexibility. Transparency has been significantly improved, thanks to a new noise shaper, less distortion and greater neutrality. Furthermore, Mojo 2 can also be brought wirelessly with the Poly streamer / server which adds connectivity to the DAC inputs WiFi, Bluetooth and the increasingly required compatibility with DLNA, AirPlay and Roon protocols as well as a convenient MicroSD slot.

The phenomenal Chord patent. Buttons and Interface.

As is known to most, all Chord Electronics devices, in living memory, are characterized by a very recognizable and unique interface designed to combine inputs and outputs. These are the famous translucent "spheres" that can, in the various products, be pressed and / or rotated and that at the same time can take on different colors thus revealing to the eye, and without having to sharpen the sight to read improbable and long sequences of characters in small displays, mechanical operating fundamentals. A fleeting glance will thus suffice to understand the state of charge of the battery, what is the input used at the moment, such as the sampling frequency, etc. For example, Mojo 2 benefits from two main volume “ranges”: low and high, immediately recognizable by the color of the specific menu / key: off means low volume, white means high volume. Mojo 2 offers two levels of button brightness: normal and low.

For whom Mojo 2 is meant

The new all-in-one proposed by Chord Electronics has different usage profiles and therefore responds to different types of typical users. On the one hand the most obvious, the globetrotter who lives attached to the phone and mostly uses liquid music services from smartphones as a source. Lovers of good sound here will use Mojo 2 as a connection between mobile device (Android or iOS does the same) and headphones. Others will add the Poly module to make everything wireless. In this way the phone will be connected via wifi to the Poly which in turn is connected in a stable way, in a single body, with Mojo 2; thus eliminating the need for a telephone to DAC cable.

The goodness of the Chord Electronics technical solutions means that in addition to mobile use it is possible to use Mojo also at home, typically connected via cable to a PC or Mac. The sound performance of the Mojo is so high as to make this DAC and amplifier even recommended. in any home system that is not already equipped with a stand alone DAC.

So Mojo 2 can be a stable companion on the desk, always connected to the Mac and to the power supply. From it the sound can then go to an external amplifier or it can go directly to an excellent pair of headphones.

Ultimately Chord Mojo 2 is often used only indoors, between transport and integrated sources, for example between a Cyrus CD and a good amplifier without DAC.

I can't find the USB port! What cables do I need to connect the Mojo 2?

Mojo 2 features USB-C, Micro-USB, Toslink and coaxial inputs with 3.5mm Jack. For the more typically digital side, USB connections, we refer to another source as there are an infinity of good proposals on the market, focusing on the coaxial side we can certainly provide excellent ideas. Valid combinations are given by the C-LITE fiber optic Chord cables, available in various lengths and combinations of terminations with Toslink-Toslink or Toslink-Minijack. Instead, if you want to use coaxial digital cables with 3.5mm miniJack terminations, you can successfully orientate yourself on the Clearway Digital cable with 3.5mm terminations.
