MasterPhono by MoFi is the highest level Phono Preamplifier for MM and MC cartridges to be connected between the turntable and the amplifier. MasterPhono allows a wide range of adjustments to suit each cartridge and offers great transparency and extraordinary fidelity.

MoFi MasterPhono – the reference RIAA Phono Preamplifier

MasterPhono is the reference Phono stage from MoFi Electronics, highly configurable thanks to the wide range of adjustments allowed to be adapted to any MM or MC cartridge. The concept of all MoFi components is to establish a reproduction standard capable of revealing all the musical details of the Original Masters in a neutral and transparent way, without adding artifacts or timbral coloring.

Since 2017, MoFi has brought together a team of global legends in the industry to create HiFi components with the aim of achieving the highest possible fidelity.

The MasterPhono was designed by Peter Madnick, an esteemed audio engineer with long experience in the High End sector.

The fully balanced circuit uses high-level discrete components to manage the signal strictly in the analog domain all the way through.

The components of the signal amplification section are extremely silent and include FET transistors at both input and output.

The solid aluminum front panel houses the selectors for inputs and adjustments, and a pair of VU meters illuminated by the iconic orange, a stylistic feature of the American brand. Depending on the version, the real wood side panels are available in Black or Walnut finishes.

Double frame to avoid interference

The design of the MasterPhono preamplifier is characterized by a double chassis: the power supply section has been physically separated from the amplification circuit to avoid interference between the various components.

The power supply section is managed internally and separated for left and right channels, and is rigorously shielded to avoid any possibility of interference on the signal circuits.

MasterPhono is designed to amplify both MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) moving coil cartridges, including very low impedance MC cartridges thanks to a special “current input” that uses Trans-impedance dynamic loading technology.

The impedance parameters “Load Impedance” (15, 30, 50, 75 100, 500, 1K, 10K Ohm) and the gain “Gain” (40 dB, 50 dB, 60 dB and 70 dB) are regulated via relay using the selectors located on the front panel, allowing the most personal configuration by enthusiasts.

In compliance with the analogue domain, all controls are visible via the pair of VU meters majestically positioned on the front panel in classic vintage style. This is an electromechanical needle instrument (galvanometer) with a moving coil for evaluating audio signal levels; technically it measures volts in alternating current via a wave rectifier.

SPECIFICHE TECNICHE

Both standard signal input (“Voltage Input”) via RCA & XLR and “Current input” for use with low source-impedance phono cartridges, via RCA or XLR, utilizing “Trans-impedance dynamic loading”.

Dual-chassis construction that isolates power supply and audio circuits, featuring a separately isolated chassis and signal grounding post for the lowest overall system noise.

4 switchable gain settings of 40db, 50db, 60db and 70db.

10 switchable impedance loading adjustments, including a “Custom” via RCA plug on rear panel.

Fully discrete circuitry from input to output including fully balanced, DC coupled and servo controlled circuit from the high pass filter to the output jacks.

Passive RIAA exclusively using stringent parts selection; NOS polystyrene and polypropylene film/foil capacitors with better than 1% precision, as well as all critical resistors with tolerances 0.1% or 0.5% for precise filtering and voltages.

Cascaded voltage regulation stages to help achieve the lowest possible noise floor.

Remote control operation for input selection, gain adjustment, mute, mono operation, meter operation and subsonic filter.

Left and Right meters for output monitoring and calibration purposes.

Extreme RIAA accuracy of ±0.05db and frequency response of 10Hz–50KHz ±0.20db.

Maximum S/N Ratio (A-weighted) of 93dB for MM cartridges and 85dB for MC cartridges

Dimensions (w x h x d): 43.2 x 8.9 x 40 cm;

Weight: 6.8 Kg.
