ATC P2 is the power amplifier in Dual Mono configuration in class A/B of the English brand, capable of 300 W at 8 ohms per channel, ideal for driving the passive speakers of the Classic Series, but it can be used for any speaker, also large, and rooms with generous dimensions. It boasts high-quality analog inputs: balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA for connection to any preamp.

Description

The 300 W per channel Dual Mono power amplifier of ATC P2 represents the pinnacle of power in the range of electronics produced by ATC: it is the reference Dual Mono power amplifier of the English brand and is derived from the amplification modules present in active speakers.

The P2 amplifier was designed in Dual Mono configuration, delivering a power of 300 W into an 8 ohm load in class AB.

This specification offers considerable power reserves accompanied by remarkable control and authority, making it an ideal choice for large environments and the perfect companion for the Classic Series passive models.

These amplifiers share the same gain reduction and speaker protection circuitry housed in ATC's active monitors. This feature ensures that, even when operating at very high volume levels, the amplifier avoids the "clipping" phenomenon, thus significantly improving the sound performance and protecting the speakers from possible damage.

From a design point of view, it features a sturdy metal chassis with a massive 12mm thick titanium anodized aluminum front panel and a top panel with ventilation holes to help cool the devices. internal components.

The power button is located on the rear panel, but it is also equipped with the Standby function, which allows you to activate the product directly via the IR remote control included in the package.

For reasons related to thermal management, it is always advisable to position the power amplifier above the preamplifier, in order to guarantee better heat dispersion and not compromise the quality of the audio.

Power Made in ATC

ATC uses an advanced amplification system that adopts a Dual Mono configuration, i.e. it keeps the power, signal and return paths separate. This methodology ensures that the amplifier can achieve maximum signal separation, minimizing crosstalk, i.e. interference between the two channels.

In addition, intermodulation between channels via power supplies is minimized across all operating frequencies, without the power supplied by one channel affecting the specified power available in the other channel.

The class A/B output stage is capable of delivering 300 W per channel into an 8 ohm load, thanks to two generous 400 VA low-noise transformers and a pair of MOSFETs for each channel.

No compromises: the high-performance power supply and large heat sinks ensure extraordinary stability and long-term reliability.

ATC's main objectives in amplifier design are: extremely wide passband (to minimize phase variations across the entire audio band), low distortion, low noise and excellent reliability. These goals are achieved by employing ATC's proprietary Grounded Source output section design, using MOSFETs as output devices, and adopting a parallel FET limiter, which does not affect the audio circuitry until the threshold voltage is not exceeded. This limiter protects your amplifier, speakers and listeners from the potential effects of overload distortion.

360 degree connectivity

Like all the brand's electronics and speakers, it is assembled by hand in the Stroud headquarters, guaranteeing extraordinary manufacturing care also thanks to the meticulous tests to which all products are subjected. P

as regards connections, P2 has only one pair of outputs for connecting stripped cables or cables terminated with bananas or forks: the terminals are proprietary and of great quality.

The ideal pairings are the passive speakers from ATC's Classic line, including the reference models SCM100 and SCM150.

For driving we recommend using high quality power cables, such as Chord Company cables. Cables like the SignatureXL model integrate perfectly with the ATC philosophy, offering a natural and transparent sound.

However, the EpicX model also demonstrated excellent results.

The recommended sources are the preamplifiers of the same brand, starting from the CDA2 with integrated DAC and CD player, up to the CA2 and the iconic SCA2; P2 can also be used to increase the driving power of the SIA2-100 and SIA2-150 integrated circuits. As regards the inputs, it is possible to connect both a pair of balanced

As with professional audio applications, ATC recommends that the P2 be used via its balanced inputs.

When balanced inputs are used for common mode noise reduction, the speaker is perfectly balanced to the ground.

In practice, the further improvement manifests itself in the elimination of low-frequency modulation, thanks to a superior power supply arrangement, in a reduction of the temperature cycle of the output devices and in the cleaning of the ground signal.< /p>

To connect all your electrical devices to the power supply, we recommend the Chord Company PowerHAUS power strip, from the high-performance S6 model with 6 sockets, up to the M6 model which integrates 3 MainsARAY devices mounted in parallel to remove high frequency noise and mass noise.

Furthermore, to ensure complete protection for all electrical and electronic devices, we recommend TorusPower isolators which completely decouple connected equipment from the mains and provide protection against major voltage peaks, such as lightning strikes.
