Cyrus PRE-XR – HighEnd quality preamplifier

The Cyrus Pre-XR preamplifier is an integral part of the innovative XR series from CYRUS.

The acoustic die-cast chassis remains the same as ever, but inside, everything has changed. New technology, new circuitry, new elegant finish, touch control keys and a high resolution display. There is no shortage of innovations and updates hidden inside. The XR series products are the concrete realization of the knowledge and development accumulated over more than a decade of work by the R&D department at Cyrus. With meticulous attention to detail in every component found in the audio path, XR takes Cyrus audio performance to a new, superior, level.

High capacity feed

The power supply design of the Cyrus Pre-XR preamplifier has received special attention. An oversized 74VA power transformer provides stable and clean high-capacity power. Within the circuit design, a total of 15 independent power regulators manage the adequate and optimal power to each individual internal stage. The digital control circuits are assigned a separate power supply, completely isolated from the signal circuit.

Balanced and unbalanced output options

The Cyrus Pre-XR offers balanced audio output connections via XLR connectors for best performance in systems where mating to high-end power amplifiers with balanced inputs is expected. An unbalanced RCA output is also provided.

Power port for PSU-XR

The Pre-XR includes a port for the new Cyrus PSU-XR power supply. Thirty years ago Cyrus broke new ground with the introduction of the Cyrus PSX-R, the first external power supply that automatically adjusted to perfectly match the power requirements of any connected product. The PSU-XR raises the bar by providing five additional independently regulated power supplies. For the Pre-XR, the PSU-XR replaces the power supply for the analog stages of the preamplifier.

Cyrus PRE-XR Fully configurable

A new menu system makes the Cyrus Pre-XR highly customizable yet easy to configure. With a tree navigation structure and navigation via local and remote control, menu settings are quick and easy to select.

Analog preamplifier yes, but all new

The Cyrus Pre-XR analog preamplifier features relay input selection and a new high-performance gain stage. This short path design makes the analog preamp extremely transparent and musical. With four analog inputs and a Phono MM, the Pre-XR will cover virtually any system requirement for analog connectivity.

Pre-XR digital performance

The Cyrus Pre-XR DAC input stage features a new second-generation version of the award-winning Cyrus DAC QXR, but with an all-new high-speed analog buffer stage. Seven digital filter alignment options are user adjustable to suit listener tastes. Input options include USB audio (with 384k sample rate) and DSD to DSD512, 2 SPDIF digital inputs and 2 optical digital inputs.
