Other features
Both wired and wireless connection
Most audio enthusiasts place the subwoofer away from the main electronics, and the connection usually requires a fairly long signal cable, which is difficult to hide and can therefore be unsightly.
The SUB80P subwoofer receives the signal directly from the supplied transmitter module, via wireless technology, so you can place the subwoofer anywhere in the room without having to run an audio cable. For those who place the subwoofer near the hi-fi system, or prefer not to use the wireless solution, they can continue to connect it in the traditional way with the cable.
Another quite exclusive feature of the SUB80P is that of connecting the subwoofer with both solutions, wireless and wired, and using it with two different sources, making sure to turn one on at a time.
Phase control
A very important, and often overlooked, parameter is the phase of the subwoofer. Depending on its positioning in the room and on the basis of the interfacing with the satellite speakers, the subwoofer could be out of phase, with the low frequencies reduced or in some cases almost eliminated, reducing performance and sound impact. When the subwoofer is correctly phased, the audio from the satellites will be clearer and there will be maximum sonic impact in the low frequencies. The phase switch serves precisely this purpose, it determines the forward or backward movement of the woofer cone in the presence of the signal. The best method to understand if the phase is correct is to listen to a song you know well and try moving the phase switch to the position where the low frequencies are more present.
20cm woofer with floor emission
The SUB80P has a 20cm woofer that emits towards the floor, driven by a 200 watt power amplifier, capable of offering uncompromising, dynamic and fast low frequency performance that makes the soundtrack of films and music a priceless experience.
Input for external trigger
As with the signal connection, turning the subwoofer on and off is also important and if the subwoofer is positioned far from the electronics or in an inconvenient way, this procedure will be complicated. JBL SUB80P turns on automatically if it receives an activation voltage on the external Trigger connector and switches to Standby mode when this voltage fails. The LFE signal cable with integrated trigger cable is supplied with the subwoofer.
Whenever the subwoofer detects an input trigger signal, with voltage between 3V and 30V (AC or DC), it turns on. While it will turn off into standby mode after the trigger signal ceases, with the power switch in the "Auto" position.
